The River Beach of Fraga da Pegada
The river beach of Fraga da Pegada - in the middle of the Protected Landscape of the Azibo Reservoir - is an unforgettable place to go swimming in summer or simply to enjoy a landscape sculpted by hills and mountains. Since 2004 it has been consecutively awarded the Blue Flag, which is unique among European river beaches. It is recognized as an Accessible Beach for people with reduced mobility. On this river beach there are also geological phenomena, such as incredibly old rocks of volcanic origin. It offers excellent conditions to enjoy nature in complete safety and tranquillity.
River Beach of Ribeira
The River Beach of Ribeira, elected in 2012 one of the 7 Wonders – Beaches of Portugal, is part of the beautiful natural panorama of the Protected Landscape of the Azibo Reservoir. It is a very pleasant leisure space where the water normally reaches a surface temperature above 24ºC during the summer. Since 2009, it has been consecutively awarded the Blue Flag. This beach is also adapted for people with reduced mobility and has several complementary features. Here are combined the leisure of a bathing area with a breath-taking surrounding landscape.
