Domus Municipalis is a unique example in the country of Romanesque civil architecture, and it is the crown jewel of Bragança. Shaped like an irregular pentagon, it is composed of a vaulted cistern overlaid by a large gallery with windows all around and was used as the meeting place for the good men of the municipality. Much has been discussed about dating, without certainties, but it is considered that the 13th century is the probable date of construction of the upper part, and the cistern at an earlier date.
