Created on 23rd April 1982, it opened to the public on 18th May 1982. The Museum of Terra de Miranda is an ethnographic museum located in the city of Miranda do Douro. The Museum is housed in the old “Domus Municipalis” of the city, in the historic centre, a building dating from the 17th century. This Museum has unique characteristics in the country and in the Iberian Peninsula, as it reflects the values of the local culture, whose practices, traditions, and linguistic values have been valued and studied at a European level. The Museum of Terra de Miranda is responsible for collecting, studying, preserving, and exhibiting species of artistic, historical, ethnographic, and archaeological value from the entire region of Terra de Miranda, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 136/82 of 23rd April.
Installed in the former Domus Municipalis; manages the Co-Cathedral of Miranda do Douro.
