The Museum of Rural Memory is a polynuclear space consisting of the main building located in Vilarinho da Castanheira, the Olive Oil Museum, located in the village of Lavandeira, the Windmill of Carrazeda de Ansiães, the Water Mills of Ribeiro do Coito (Vilarinho da Castanheira) and by the Tile Museum, located in the village of Luzelos.
It is a musicological unit that works in a comprehensive way on different themes related to the immaterial rural culture of the Douro and Trás-os-Montes regions. Supported by a set of technological resources that include the latest multimedia solutions, the Museum of Rural Memory assumes a fundamentally didactic character, constituting a tribute to the rural culture of a people that has a long history and an ancestral cultural tradition that is urgently in need of preservation, studying, and dissemination.
