Heir of the former Museum of Territory and Memory, then located in the former Casa da Cadeia, the current Silk and Territory Museum (opened on 18 August 2015) houses the entire ethnographic, archaeological, and geological collection of the former museum space, the which adds to it a recent collection associated with silk, the iconic image of the current Museum, located in Largo do Outeiro, in the heart of the Historic Centre. Freixo de Espada à Cinta is the only territory in the entire Iberian Peninsula where silk is still produced in a 100% artisanal way.
